Loop & Yard is an independent project for people who would rather spend their time making than working out yarn arithmetic.

Measured inputs, visible methods

Our calculators use your sample measurements. We publish the formula and an illustrative worked example on each tool page. The tools do not infer yarn use from a photograph, a yarn category or a promised “standard” ball size.

What we have checked

The calculation code is checked with worked arithmetic examples, unit conversion checks and a forward / reverse budget comparison. Those checks validate the formulas in software. They do not establish the accuracy of any particular maker’s swatch or finished project. We have not independently tested the example blanket as a physical make.

Editorial method

Our field notes explain the same methods used in the tools. We link to primary references where they help explain terminology and measurement. We do not claim professional crochet credentials, user counts or measured project success rates. Dates reflect publication or substantive content changes.

Your project stays yours

Calculations run in your browser. Saving a plan writes to this device only, and you can clear it from the tool. There is no account or cloud plan storage. See the privacy notice for hosting and local-storage details.
